Monte JE, Earthdog Wonder!

monte_je.gifTwo and a half year old Monte, Rumor's Comte de Monte Cristo v Ruger JE, tried his paw at Earthdog with his first practice ever on the 13th of June, sans his owner, Courtney.  He did very well without much work at all.  I let Courtney know that it was probably a good idea to enter him at the Earthdog tests the following weekend, which were being held in Elizabeth CO by the Cairn Terrier Club of Denver.

Courtney and Monte rode out with us on Saturday.  Monte passed both the morning and afternoon tests like he's been running down artificial tunnels and barking like mad at rats his entire life!  LOL!  So he was 2 of 2 with a brand spankin' new JE title.

We didn't go out the next day to the test (the dogs I was running got, er, really 'creative' on Saturday!), but Courtney went out with Monte, having moved him up to the Senior level.  I warned her that the jump from Junior to Senior, especially with no practice, was very, very difficult.  Many Earthdog participants feel that the Senior level is actually much more difficult than the Master level.

However, Monte surprised everyone by not just doing well, but doing GREAT!  He passed Senior TWICE on Sunday!  Now he just needs one more leg for his Senior title.

Monte's breeder is our dear friend Carol Henning.  His parents are my DC Sunrise Maximus v Ruger MW, "Maximus", ex Moriah's Rumor's Oopsy-Do MW, "Athena".  His littermates are CH Tucker and Buckley.

Congrats to Monte JE and his owners, Courtney and Justin!  Well Done!

Way to go Monte and Courtney. As a person who runs dogs in Earthdog, going from Junior to Senior, with no practice, is quite amazing. I see a Master title around the corner!
