Almond Milk - OMG!

My Third St Chai & Almond Milk, Unstirred

Almond milk is my new favorite!  The vanilla style is good, but is 90 calories instead of 60 for the plain.  Plus, you can taste the yummy almonds better in the plain.  It's thick and delicious; don't be afraid to try it.  It's waaayyyy better than soy milk, in my opinion, and I like soy milk!  I love it in cereal, you name it. I haven't yet tried it as a baking substitute, but as a healthy drink, it's the BOMB! Laughing

All this has to do with Dachshunds is that the Horde loves it, too.  They hang out when I'm drinking it, waiting for me to let them lick the cup.

Boots!
Tuesday, 27 April 2010 12:18

NAUGHTY!  I am naughty, naughty.  And I'm going to blame it all on Jen Abersold, who, if she had her way, would have had me buy about 4 pairs, along with a Friesian horse and a hot cowboy with his own dang boots.  I think the horse would have been shipped to Jen.  We would have to share custody of the hot cowboy.

Anyway, the fruit of my naughtiness?  Boots.  Beautiful, but not too fussy, boots:

Aren't those CUTE!  I didn't notice the blue stitching on the zappos.com picture.  I LUV blue!!  And they fit!  Even my monster-muscled calves from all the squatting I do with these dang Dachshunds. Why couldn't some of these huge leg muscles I have be in my abs?  Minus the lovehandles from Ree Drummond's cooking, of course.  Are you sensing the theme here?  Nothing is MY fault.  Nope.  Nosirrrybob!  I am just a leaf in the stream...

My skinny legged jeans are in the wash, so pictures of the boots on my boot cut jeans clad leg is all you're gonna get for now.

Yeehaw!  These are comfy!

So now I get to put these on to muck out my paddock.  I'm pretending today.  Instead of a yard full of wiener dogs, I have a corral of ponies.  And a hot cowboy.

The Pick-Me-Up For ME, or LOVE missdoxie.com
Wednesday, 21 April 2010 09:25

A couple of people recently commented that when they need a boost, they go re-read a particular post on my blog.  Really?  I am sure they are the posts where I do something dumb.

I think that's what most of them are about, anyway.  My doing things that make regular people think, "Really?  She didn't know that?" while they are rolling their eyes.  Argh.  I can be so dense.

So I thought I would share one of my standard go-tos when I need a pick-me-up.  This card was created by Leigh Tyson, otherwise known around the 'net as "Miss Doxie", writer of the freakin' HEE-LAR-I-OUS blog missdoxie.com.  Currently, Leigh is now in LOVE and ENGAGED (!!) to a handsome man with a penchant for kittehs and Miss Doxie, so her blog has not been very active for, well, I think a couple of years.  But the archives alone....well, I have laughed so hard reading some of those posts as to almost ruin a laptop by spewing Diet Coke all over it.  And that was after I read the dang things years before when they were first posted! [Dis girlee is soooo simple!]  Be aware that if you are sensitive about reading four letter words, you should avoid reading Miss Doxie.  But that would totally be your loss!

Bo, the naughty doxie, is my favorite:

borolleyesbig-1

Now Bo An Angry Teenager. ROLL EYES. Family SO STUPID.

Heee. Poor Bo. He lives a life of misery.

I just totally stole that from Miss Doxie's site.  Nice, eh?

Anyways, at one point Leigh created a line of cute lil postcards and jewelery and my favorite, teeney little buttons with drawrings (yes, that is how I meant to spell it) of Bo saying things like, "short, brown, mad..."  [Hint: Don't ask me to share my teeny buttons.  I won't.]  This was at shopdoxie.com, but that, of course, went by the wayside for actual Work and True Love.  But I am sure it will come back.  We married people know how that goes....

Anyway, this is my favorite Bo, Help-Your-Dog-Fill-In-The-Blank, postcard:

I can't tell you exactly why, but this postcard makes me laugh out loud.  Every. Single. Time.

It's on the side of my fridge.  Permanently.

Radar WINS!
Tuesday, 20 April 2010 12:18

This little guy is just about the cutest child ever:

Radar wins the Field Champion Dog Class at the DCStL Field Trial on April 18, 2010

Radar is officially ABS DC Caledonia's Radar O'Reilly v Ruger MW RN JE CGC VC TDI.  He is one of my DC Maximus ROMX's many talented sons.  Radar is out of the Marvin's field pointed CH Lassie and they are, of course, his breeders.  Kathy Schooler, Radar's owner, has just done a fabulous job showing and training this sweet boy, who is as gorgeous as he is smart.

This picture is from Saturday, April 18th.  The next day he earned a 2nd.  It's so difficult to explain to people who do not field trial how very difficult it is to place in this very competitive class in the midwest.  This class in the midwest, especially, usually includes some of the very best field Dachshunds in the country.  We are so proud of Radar and Kathy!  They will be competing this next weekend at the MADC field trial in Roscoe IL.

We are so sad that we cannot go (must work to fund the dog activities), but we will be there with all the participants, cheering in spirit!
